Dr Mildner completed his training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine (PICM) in 2001.
In 2004 he was appointed as a consultant in PICM at Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH), a specialist children’s hospital in the West Midlands region of England.
The PICU is a combined cardiac and medical/surgical PICU with 31 beds. He co-lead the establishment of a regional transport service in 2009 and was PICU Clinical Lead (director) from 2009 to 2012.
Other roles include National Paediatric Clinical Lead for Organ Donation and NIHR Clinical Research Scholar. His interests are acute respiratory failure & support, and organ donation.
