Welcome Message

Dr Regunathan Villanayer
President
Malaysian Association of
Plastic, Aesthetic and
Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 24th Annual Scientific Meeting and the 37th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Association of Plastic, Aesthetic and Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons. It has been a minor hurdle to overcome, to hold this meeting completely virtual. This is the first time that the conference is held in this manner and while I regret that the COVID pandemic prevented us from holding the conference last year, I am excited about the opportunities in holding an innovative virtual conference this time.

This meeting has brought together an array of distinguished faculty members both local and also from the USA, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, New Zealand and the UK. The scientific program entails a wide range of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgical topics. I am confident that it will be absorbing and not only give us the most recent updates of the various areas of interest but also make us reflect on our own practice to further enhance our service to patients.

The conference also aims to stimulate students, paramedics, medical officers, plastic surgical trainees and plastic surgeons to exchange knowledge, ideas and innovation which are crucial in the advancement of our specialty. For this, there is a dedicated free paper session which has been scheduled on the first day and an e-poster arena for poster presentations.

Despite the raging pandemic in Malaysia at this moment, we have been able to get very good support from our industry partners. With a virtual trade exhibition in display, I would like to invite all of you to visit the virtual trade booths, appreciate the innovative displays and support our partners in return, as it has been similarly difficult for them in these uncertain times.

I wish you a valuable and enjoyable conference and hope the virtual experience gives you faith of the possibilities in facing difficulties.
