Clinical Simulation on the ED Floor
SYMPOSIUM 2 - SIMULATION (Hall 1)
25th October 2021 (1400 - 1520)

Implementing simulations in healthcare has become the latest trend and is on the rise. Although some people are skeptical of the use of simulations in healthcare as opposed to the gaming field, it has proven the effectiveness of simulations in various studies and reported in many journals. Besides use in teaching and learning, simulations are also used for diagnostics, therapeutics, as well as for quality improvement.

Various issues faced, especially in the Department of Emergency Medicine, can be mitigated by using simulation methods. In this presentation, participants, the speaker will talk about in situ simulation, the aims, and benefits of in situ simulation in ED as well as several examples and studies pertaining to in situ simulations in ED.

The most important aspect that will be presented is that training using simulation will not disrupt the flow of patient management in the department, does not involve the use of expensive and complex technology and is safe to carry out. Safety factors for instructors and participants are among the primary advantages of simulation. Apart from that, training that can be done repeatedly is also an advantage of using simulations in our department.

Therefore, the title “Clinical Simulation on the ED Floor” is very relevant to all of us, regardless of whether we are from an emergency department that has limited resources or not. Our desire to improve quality is the major drive to attend to this presentation.
