Background: Geriatric population present with increasing proportion among ED patients. Many of them present with atypical symptoms and are associated with high morbidity and mortality.
Content: GEM skills like screening for geriatric syndromes (frailty, cognitive decline, impaired mobility, polypharmacy), use of urinary catheters, palliative care and discharge planning needed to be imparted to the ED staff to increase quality of care and outcomes.
